Biography

Film composer Tyler Bates (300, Halloween, Dawn of the Dead) and world-renowned virtuoso singer and songsmith Azam Ali (Niyaz) have created Roseland.

Juxtaposing ambient electronic textures with intoxicating vocal melodies and driving hypnotic rhythms, Roseland’s music is the expression of a truly unique artistic collaboration. While their music has been compared to Cocteau Twins or Siouxie and the Banchees meet Led Zeppelin, no likeness conveys the cinematic essence of Azam’s haunting voice and evocative lyrics that reflect the sorrows of war, self-doubt, and the personal experiences and relationships which shape and mold our psyches

You may have heard Tyler’s music and Azam’s voice before, among other projects, they collaborated on Tyler’s score to the movie 300 which has sold upwards of 168,000 soundtracks to date comprised solely of Tyler’s score which highlights Azam’s soulful vocal melodies. Also, Azam has released eight critically acclaimed albums which and she is one of the most prolific, versatile, and gifted singers on the “world” music scene today. Billboard Magazine calls her voice, “a glorious, unforgettable instrument.” Azam has performed and/or collaborated with many musicians including Serj Tankian of System of a Down, The Crystal Method, and Ben Watkins of Juno Reactor.
